Do NOT BLOCK Intersection

Blog and Journal

One of my pet peeves is when people mindlessly drive into an intersection when they know they won't be able to clear it before it turns red. Not only is this against the law, it is also highly annoying when your light turns green, and your path is blocked by numb-skulls who think that it is more important for them to get where they are going, then for you to get where you are going.

Now, I am generally not a aggressive driver. At least not anymore. When I was younger I would be more prone to road rage then I am now. Plus I grew up in Toronto. Traffic in Toronto is horrible. In Buffalo, even the worst traffic is more like a Sunday morning stroll in Toronto.

That being said, if I am already pissed off due to other circumstances, I do tend to be a tad more aggressive. But usually not to the point of allowing things to get out of control, and I have never flipped anyone off or anything. In this case, I usually try to make my own way through traffic by driving wherever I have to in order to get through the intersection, including over curbs and sidewalks if needed.

Traffic here is so bad in the mornings that a few of us chipped in and purchased a DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTION sign from trafficsignstore.com. It was recently installed and is visible in the photo above, on the far left side of the intersection (it is a one way road).

If only the police would enforce this...
